La Crosse schools: Threat at Central High School ‘resolved’

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The threat at La Crosse’s Central High School “has been resolved,” according to a post on the school’s website.

After-school activities will go ahead as scheduled Thursday, and classes will resume as normal Friday.

“While the police investigation is ongoing, the threat to student safety has been resolved, and it is safe to send students back to school,” said the school post.

The school district canceled classes late Wednesday after the school district and the La Crosse Police Department were made aware of a threat to the school. The threat was made over email, say school officials.

The full statement reads:

The safety and well-being of our students and staff members are our top priority. Thank you for your flexibility today in keeping your students at home.

Last night, we received information about an emailed threat toward Central High School made by a student. Immediate action was taken by school administration and the La Crosse Police Department as soon as we were notified about the email. While the police investigation is ongoing, the threat to student safety has been resolved, and it is safe to send students back to school.

We appreciate your continued support for a safe environment for our entire Central High School family. Classes at Central High School will resume tomorrow, November 12, and we look forward to welcoming our students and staff to school in the morning.

All after-school activities for tonight will continue as scheduled.
