La Crosse Tavern League donates to planned special needs park
Trane Park re-design gets helping hand from local organization
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse Tavern League is helping out a special needs park planned for the city.
On Tuesday, the organization donated $7,300 dollars to the Parks and Recreation Department to go toward the new Trane special needs park.
The park is being re-designed to fit the needs of kids who have autism, and others who struggle in traditional park settings.
Tim Groth, the Vice President of the Tavern League of La Crosse, says donations like this are made to give back to the community.
“We’re not the hospitals, but we do as much as we can. To us, it’s great… all 165 members in La Crosse County donating time, money, food, fun, just for that, I think it’s a great thing,” said Groth.
Groth estimates that at least $50,000 is donated from the organization in La Crosse County every year.
The renovations to Trane Park are expected to cost about $2,000,000.
