La Crosse’s Central High School canceling Thursday classes due to threat

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Central High School in La Crosse announced classes on Thursday, November 11th are canceled.

Students and staff are being told not to report to the school.

Principal Jeff Axness sent out a statement to parents tonight, saying the School District of La Crosse and the La Crosse Police Department were made aware of a serious threat towards the school.

Police and the district administration are investigating the validity of the threat.

“Due to the timing of this event and our district’s priority of student and staff safety, Central High School is currently canceling classes … to give the La Crosse Police Department and school administration more time to thoroughly investigate this issue,” says Axness in the message to parents.

Axness also says more detailed information will be shared with school families and staff once it’s available.
