La Crosse’s Freedom Walk remembers 9-11

Hundreds of people gathered in La Crosse Friday night to remember the victims of 9-11.

The annual Freedom Walk at Riverside Park was put on by Operation Homefront.

The one mile loop around the park is a way to honor those lost during the attacks.

It’s also a chance to honor the sacrifices made by the people who protect us here in our own area everyday.

“What we’re doing really is taking a tragic day in our nations history remembering it and then turning around and using it for good by thanking our police and fire in our own communities for what they do and also honoring our veterans,”

Both La Crosse and Onalaska’s mayors spoke at the event, among other community leaders.
