La Crosse’s Northside Elementary open house set for Thursday
District officials to give tours from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The community is invited to tour the new Northside Elementary School on Thursday, September 18 from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
A short program at 4 p.m. will include a mayoral proclamation at the school, 1611 Kane Street in La Crosse.
Also as part of the short program Thursday, students will sing the new school song and time capsule artifacts will be shared before being buried at the school. School District of La Crosse Superintendent Randy Nelson said he’s is looking forward to showing off the first new school in 20 years and one that’s in demand.
“We anticipated as we were putting this together that as these two schools merged, we’d have 450 students,” Nelson said. “That was the population between those two schools. And right now we’re a little higher than 500. We’ve had several students, maybe close to 40 or 50, who after the school year began or shortly before the school year started, actually enrolled here at Northside Elementary.”
