The festival began Thursday with an opening ceremony that included welcome speeches, raising the flag over the park, and the National Anthem. Riverfest runs through Monday. Organizers say they’re expecting plenty of people.
“People from Minnesota and Iowa drive a ways just to come here. We get people, you know, we’ve had people from Michigan and stuff. So, it brings a lot of people from out of town that maybe have never been to La Crosse before and get to experience it for the first time, ” Riverfest President D.J. Olbrys explained.
Olbrys expects more people to come to Riverfest for the first time in years after they canceled travel plans because of high gas prices.
There’s plenty of fun happening at Riverfest. You can find the schedule of events HERE.
