LaDene Kay Reed
January 20, 1950 ~ November 3, 2021
LaDene Kay (Lang) Reed, 71, of Chester, Iowa, died Nov. 3, 2021, after a month-long battle with COVID-19, at Mayo Clinic-St. Marys Campus, Rochester MN. LaDene was born in Enid, Okla., on January 20, 1950, to Edward and Dorothy Lang.
Her family moved to Hastings, MN, when she was 13 years old. After graduating from Hastings High School in 1968, LaDene studied nursing at Rochester State Junior College, where she met Bill Reed. After graduating in 1971, LaDene and Bill were married in 1972 and lived initially in Anoka, MN, and then settled in St. Paul, MN. Retiring after 30 years as a registered nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2008, LaDene and Bill moved to Chester. LaDene enjoyed sewing, reading, snorkeling, fossil and agate hunting, watching mystery shows, perusing rummage sales, and traveling – both nationally and internationally.
However, LaDene was happiest when visiting her four grandsons — Jackson (2003), Caleb (2005), Cameron Dingler (2008) and Kai Dingler (2013).
LaDene is survived by her husband Bill, daughter Laura Reed (Noah Dingler), son Dr. Bryan (Jessica) Reed, mother Dorothy (Nobis) Lang, sister LaDonna (Lang) Joseph, sister Cheryl Lang (Tom Steinmueller), and niece Crystal Joseph.
Preceding her in death was her father Edward Lang.
