Landscaping project in La Crosse honored for water friendly features
The Waterview Apartments receved
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A landscaping project in our area is being honored for being water-friendly.
The ‘Soak it Up! Project Award’ was given to the Waterview Apartments for 2019.
A dedication was held for the project Tuesday, after a celebration for the project was canceled in 2020.
Water from every downspout at the apartments flows to a separate rain garden, where water is held.
Roush Rentals owns the apartments and wants to incorporate environmentally friendly features to their projects.
“As you can tell at this project about one city block away from the Mississippi river. So all of the water falls from the sky and all the things we’ve developed here. If we don’t treat that water and take care of it we end up polluting the river,” said Nick Roush, president of Roush Rentals.
2021 will be the fourth year of the ‘Soak It Up!’ award in La Crosse.
