Large item collection ending in La Crosse

La Crosse’s four week large item trash pick up is ending soon for the year.

Items such as couches, beds and bed frames are being collected until Friday.

People looking to get rid of large items should place them on the curb on their regular recycling day.

Officials say residents are taking the opportunity to dispose of the large items.

“This year has increased. To date, we have hauled more tonnage, we’ve got two days left in the program, compared to the end of last year,” said Gary Hougom, Vice President of Sales for Hilltopper Recycling.

Items such as washers and dryers as well as computers are not accepted and must be disposed of in a different way.
