Lincoln Middle School teaching positive behaviors
LA CROSSE, WI — Teachers at a La Crosse middle school are getting the new year started off on the right foot by modeling ideal behavior for students.
It’s the fourth year Lincoln Middle has taken part in the “Positive Behaviors and Intervention Supports” initiative or PBIS.
The program focuses on the expectations of what students should be doing in the classroom and hallways instead of what’s against the rules. “We’re allowing them to make their own decisions, we’re going to educate you, we’re going to give you the information, understand though, you’re going to be accountable for your own actions,” said Dean of Students Eric Check.
The Dean of Students says the number of kids getting in trouble has decreased every year since the initiative began.
