Local 5k kicks off Thanksgiving on the right foot

The 25th annual UW-L Turkey Trot brought friends and family together for a cause at the Recreational Eagle Center.

The 5k Trot and walk raises money for multicultural student scholarships and student development initiatives.

For many participants the Trot is how they kick off the Holidays.

“People make it a tradition, it’s a big family activity for people in the community, we hear from people all the time that people who are coming in early for the Thanksgiving holiday, and they stop in. Plus it’s really awesome for students to be part of it, or for alumni to come back and be part of it,” Whitney Burress, Competitive Sports and Events Coordinator, said.

The Trot featured a costume contest, junior gobbler races, and awards for top finalists.
