Local apple orchard opens, expects great crop
GALESVILLE, WI — While it may not feel like apple picking weather yet, local apple orchards are opening their doors for the season.
Ferguson’s Apple Orchard in Galesville invited the community to take part in it’s opening weekend.
Owner Tom Ferguson said thankfully, there are plenty of apples on the trees this year.
Last year, the weather made for a horrible apple crop.
Ferguson said orchards all across the area suffered extreme losses.

“It’s easy to be excellent compared to the disaster of last year but I think we wouldn’t want to go out on a limb to say it’s a record, but it will be a good average crop for us,” said Ferguson.
Ferguson said different apple varieties hit their peak at different times throughout the Fall.
He said one of the most popular, Honeycrisp, should be ready right around Sept. 20.
