Local church celebrates 150th anniversary

BARRE MILLS, Wis. (WKBT) – A local church is coming up on a historic milestone. St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

The congregation first came together in 1870.

It started in a farmhouse in Barre Mills, which is still standing today.

The church was built just down the road in 1887.

To celebrate the anniversary the church will be holding multiple services on March 2nd.

Mark G. Schroeder, the president of Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, will be a guest preacher.

There will also be a celebration dinner.

The theme of the anniversary is “God’s Love Endures Forever”.
