Local church prays for South Carolina shooting victims on Sunday
La Crosse's Christ Episcopal Church joined in solidarity to remember those killed
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — While so many gathered in South Carolina, a local Charleston group encouraged other churches across the country to show unity with the city on Sunday.
La Crosse’s Christ Episcopal Church joined in solidarity to remember those killed. Along with praying for the lives lost, the church also prayed for racial harmony in the United States.
Reverend Augustine said the tragedy is not just a Charleston tragedy, but a national one. He said the nation has made progress when it comes to racial disparity, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.
“As we gather here this morning we are praying for racial reconciliation as a nation has been in divide for the last many months; we have been hearing from Ferguson, Baltimore and now Charleston. We pray for god’s healing in our nation,” said Rev. Canon Patrick Augustine, Christ Episcopal Church.
La Crosse’s Christ Episcopal Church was one of many that shared in prayer on Sunday.
