Public schools to attend to immunizations
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — We’re about five weeks from the start of school and health officials said there’s no better time to check on your kids’ vaccinations.
Public schools require a number of immunizations to attend.
That includes shots for polio, hepatitis B, pertussis, and Chicken Pox. Parents can sign a waiver if they prefer not to get their kids immunized however public health nurses said it’s an easy way to protect the students from being exposed to dangerous illnesses.
“Lots of common colds, lots of viruses, just lots of things they’re exposed to, so to make sure we can protect as many children as possible, it’s important for as many children as possible to be vaccinated before they enter school,” said La Crosse County Public Health Nurse Bryany Weigel.
La Crosse County is able to provide vaccines for children who are uninsured, under insured, or Native American.
