Local non-profit working to provide wheelchair accessible housing
ORC celebrates grand opening of Holtan House
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — A local non-profit that offers jobs and training to people with disabilities is now working to offer wheelchair accessible housing.
ORC Industries showed off the new “Holtan House” Friday.
The campus has three homes, each with four bedrooms. They’ll be for people in the community who have disabilities, like many of the employees at ORC.
All of them are 100%t wheelchair accessible and will have a van to take the residents on community outings.
The homes are named after Jim Holtan, the founder of ORC. “He made it his life’s mission to advance opportunities for people with disabilities in a vocational way, and by building this house, we want to expand Jim’s legacy into residential by giving people good, quality places to live,” said ORC Program Director Liam Bailey.
ORC is still waiting for licensing before they take resident applications.
