Local students bake pies for Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Students at Logan Middle School are also learning the value of volunteering.

About 60 eighth graders are baking pumpkin pies in their Family and Consumer Science class for next week’s La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

The classes hope to make more than 150 pies before Monday when they will be donated.

“I kind of took it as a chance to introduce my students to working in bigger teams and to also work together to produce something that they’re not going to actually be able to eat, but is going to be donated,” said Logan Middle School Family and Consumer Science Teacher Joshua Ison.

“I think it’s really fun to like do something better for everybody and that we should always give back to the community,” said Logan Middle School 8th Grader Lexis Shannon.

The Community dinner is next Thursday at the La Crosse Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
