Local U.S. team fans celebrate Women’s World Cup victory

Fans in La Crosse were celebrating after the U.S. women’s soccer team took home the world cup trophy.

Kramer’s Bar & Grill was one of the places in town where fans could watch the U.S. team topple the Netherlands team 2-0 in the finals.

The U.S. team broke their own record for most finals wins when they received their fourth trophy after the game.

Some former soccer players, Joelle Mueting and Taylor Aleisch, talked about why they enjoy rooting on the U.S. team.

“I love the team aspect. They have a lot of phenomenal stars, but they also have really good passing. And a lot of players are scoring, so it’s really cool to see that,” said Mueting.

“I love watching women’s better because it’s just more entertaining, and because I remember how I used to do it all the time,” said Aleisch.

Megan Rapinoe also became the oldest player to score a goal in the finals of the Women’s World Cup during the game.
