Loggers’ All-Stars poised for big opportunity
Birk, Williams, Nadratowski to represent La Crosse in Mequon
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — With the Northwoods League All-Star Game Tuesday in Mequon, Wis., the league is on a three day break.
Once again, the Loggers will be well-represented. The team is sending three players to the game: pitcher Breckin Williams, second baseman Ryne Birk and outfielder Mike Nadratowski.
“It’s an honor really. It’s something I’m really excited about, just to represent the Loggers,” Nadratowski said.
But the three players aren’t just representing La Crosse. They get the opportunity to represent themselves in front of tons of major league scouts.
“It’ll be nerve-wracking. I’m a small-town kid so I haven’t really been talking to many scouts,” said Williams, who hails from a small town in southwest Missouri. “It’s a career-changer. You go out, show well there, you might get to play pro ball. That’s everybody’s dream.”
“It’s going to be a special moment for sure. Try to take it all in. Robin Yount, Bud Selig will be there, so it will be a special moment in my life for sure,” said Birk.
First pitch is Tuesday at 6:45 at Kapco Park, home of the Lakeshore Chinooks.
“Mainly, I’m just going to try to enjoy myself and have fun and just try not to stress out,” Nadratowski said. “You’re just playing the game you love.”
