Looking ahead to 2019 State of the Union

President Trump will deliver the 2019 State of the Union Tuesday.

The speech comes one week after the speech was originally scheduled to be delivered.

This year’s State of the Union was postponed during the shutdown of the federal government.

Trump is expected to touch on immigration, trade agreements and infrastructure.

A political science professor from UW-La Crosse says the annual address gives President Trump a chance to layout his agenda.

“The State of the Union has an agenda setting function, what political scientists would call an agenda setting function, saying that these are the issues that you should be thinking about, these are the problems that you should be thinking about,” said Anthony Chergosky, UW-La Crosse Political Science Professor.

The State of the Union address is Tuesday at 8 p.m. from the Capitol in Washington D.C.

CBS News will carry the speech as well as the Democrat response.
