Looking for redemption: Tomah football looking to bounce back after winless 2021
Starting on August 19th, teams all across Wisconsin will be looking to start the season in the win collum.
In Tomah, the Timberwolves are looking for their first win since 2020 after finishing last season winless.
Some team members said the way last season finished left a bad taste in their mouths, but they weren’t discouraged.
The team was young last year and now that they’ve got more experience they’re ready to prove that they can compete in the MVC.
Senior leader and wide receiver, Drew Brookman said his message to the team is to buy into the coaches, buy into the program, and prove a lot of people wrong.
“I think it’s been great, guys have been coming with energy, they’re ready to play, obviously we got a chip on our shoulder from last year, and were ready to prove that we can play in the MVC. Just believe, buy into the coaches, they put in new installs, buy into us, the senior group of leaders,” said Senior, Drew Brookman.
Another bright spot on this team is the quarterback position.
Tom Hesse took over the QB job last year and now with way more experience, he’s ready to take his game to the next level and lead the timberwolves to redemption.
“The most I’ve been working on is getting the wide receivers and their routes correct, and getting timing correct, well were looking to have a better season obviously, Our attitude is trying to be good. We’re trying to become more of a family and bring everything together because when you work together things turn out better,” said Senior, Tom Hesse.
The Timberwolves will be put to the test when they have their preseason scrimmage against Praire du Chien on Friday, and then they’ll start their season at home against Mauston on August 19th.
