Loose leaf collection in La Crosse begins Oct. 6
Leaves can also be dropped off at Isle La Plume Yard Waste/Brush site
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Loose leaf collection from boulevards will begin in the City of La Crosse on Monday, October 6.
The collection will begin on the city’s north side and crews will work south to the end of the city.
Crews will go through the city four times collecting leaves, weather permitting. Crews ask that you have leaves piled loosely on the boulevards by 7 a.m. The City will update on its website where crews are currently working and the section that will be next. Under “Interest Items/Leaf Collection” there is a link to a “Leaf Collection Map.”
“We don’t want those packed up around poles or signs. If you can combine piles with your neighbors that would be greatly appreciated, the less piles they have to stop at the better, they can suck them up a lot quicker, even though they’re bigger,” said La Crosse Recycling Coordinator Brandon Shea.
The City said collection does not take place on normal trash collection day. Once the crews go through an area, it could be two weeks or more before they return.
Leaves can also be dropped off at Isle La Plume Yard Waste/Brush site until November 21. It will be open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*Daylight savings ends on November 2nd, the site will close at 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
