Lunch for military children held in Tomah

While soldiers and veterans have days and months in their honor, their children have a month for themselves as well.

April is the Month of the Military Child, honoring all children who make the sacrifice while their parents are doing the same.

“I don’t think a month does them justice, I think they need the whole year,” said Lieutennant Commander Pat Knight.

“At the end of the day it’s a team effort. It takes a strong spouse and strong children to give that soldier a strong base.”

Live jazz and vocal performances were provided by Tomah High School, politicians and military members provided speeches.

“It can probably feel like they’re all alone but they have an entire room full of service members and their family, which shows that this really is a tight knit community,” explained Senator Patrick Testin.
