Lung Cancer Awareness Month aims to undo stigma

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

Doctors say lung cancer has a stigma attached to it because of it’s relation to smoking.

Doctors say, however, 20 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer do not have a history of smoking.

Even so, the majority of people with the cancer are smokers or former smokers.

Doctors say survivor¬†rates have advanced with better screening and new drugs used in the disease’s advanced stages.
