Madison wants to regulate short-term rentals
MADISON, WI (AP) — City officials in Madison want to regulate short-term rentals of homes.
Six council members are sponsoring legislation that would require those homeowners to get a conditional use permit for a new zoning classification to be known as a “tourist rooming house.”
The Wisconsin State Journal reports getting a permit would require a public hearing. An approved permit could be revoked if there were problems.
They’re holding a listening session on Sept. 5 to get public input.
Mike Doyle works with University Football Rentals, which recently started working in the area. It connects tenants with rentals, particularly for Badger football games.
If the change happens, he says his company would work with officials to get all the necessary information about any new rules to homeowners who list with them.
