Man accused of sex abuse quits Webster City school board

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (AP) — A 64-year-old man accused of sex abuse has resigned his position on the Webster City school board.

District Superintendent Mike Sherwood confirmed Thursday that Paul Stenger had stepped down. Stenger was elected in September 2015.

He’s charged with sex abuse and lascivious acts with a child. Calls to Stenger’s home Friday rang unanswered. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for Stenger.

Police say the arrest stems from allegations made against Stenger by a person under 18 who says the abuse occurred over the past two years.
