Man arrested in couple’s killing in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have made another arrest in the killing of a Manchester couple earlier this year.
Delaware County Attorney John Bernau says Manchester police arrested 21-year-old Brandon Ahlers on Monday on two counts of aiding and abetting first-degree murder. He’s being held in the Delaware County jail on $500,000 bond.
Ahlers’ case is not listed on the online court system, and it’s unclear if he has an attorney. Bernau says more details on Ahlers’ arrest may be available on Tuesday.
Richard and Janet Sweet were found shot to death in their home on May 13.
Their grandson, 17-year-old Isaiah Sweet, is charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder.
KWWL-TV in Waterloo says his trial is set for Aug. 1.
