Man crashes car, lights cigarette from its flames
A man who police suspect was drunk when he crashed his car ran back to light a cigarette from its flames.
KTXL reports Robert Quigley, 25, was involved in a car accident Sunday on a California freeway. California Highway Patrol said Quigley rear-ended an SUV that was stopped in traffic–while Quigley was going 75 to 80 mph.
An officer saw the car burst into flames and turned around in traffic to respond to the accident. As he approached the vehicle, he saw Quigley switch seats with his passenger, but Quigley later admitted to have been the one driving when the crash took place.
A witness also told the officer that Quigley went back to his burning car to light a cigarette, which burned off parts of his eyebrows.
Quigley is charged on suspicion of driving under the influence and is booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
No one was injured in the crash.
