Man dies when grain auger falls on him
CAMBRIDGE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a man who died when an auger fell on him at a grain bin on a farm near Cambridge in central Iowa.
The Story County sheriff’s office says 50-year-old Danny Christie, of Nevada, was killed Tuesday morning. Officials say he was cutting up the machine to sell for scrap when it collapsed, pinning him underneath it.
The sheriff’s office says the accident happened sometime between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. KCCI-TV reports the accident was reported when an electrician found Christie under the auger.
