Man hurt in crash during Cedar Rapids police chase
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A Cedar Rapids man faces several charges after he crashed his SUV into a utility pole during a chase with police.
Authorities say 27-year-old Randy Thompson was arrested early Monday on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, attempting to elude, interference with official acts, and several other crimes. He was treated at a hospital and then booked in the Linn County jail.
Police say the chase started about 1 a.m. when officials saw a car run a red light. Police say the driver, later identified as Thompson, crashed the SUV, got out and ran off. A police dog caught him.
Thompson’s case is not on the online court system, and it’s not known if he has an attorney.
