Grandma sustained broken hip; Man arrested on parole violation

MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man wanted for parole violation was taken into custody after running through a family to get away from police, officials said.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies requested Madison police officers to help take Thomas J. Jackson IV, 34, of Madison, into custody Tuesday around 12:45 p.m., according to a release. Officials believed Jackson was inside the McDonald’s at 2402 S. Park St.

Officials said they set up a perimeter and when Jackson saw an officer walk into the restaurant, he fled the restaurant. While leaving the restaurant, Jackson ran through a family entering through the same doors and knocked a 67-year-old woman to the ground.

Jackson ran through the South Transfer Point and into the 800 block of West Badger Road where he was physically taken to the ground, according to the release.

The 67-year-old was admitted to Meriter Hospital for a broken hip sustained during the fall, authorities said.

Jackson was arrested on parole violation but officials said the incident is being reviewed and additional charges may be added relating to him resisting arrest and injuring the woman.
