Man shot after fleeing Mower County authorities

LYLE, Minn. (AP) — A Lyle man who fled from officers responding to a domestic disturbance was shot and wounded when he was eventually confronted by officers.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the 42-year-old man ran into a nearby cornfield after a mix of police, state troopers and sheriff’s deputies went to his house Wednesday afternoon. They found the man’s wife inside the house, unhurt.

The man was found after more than two hours of searching. The BCA says he was first shot with a Taser after refusing to put down his shotgun, and then a Mower County deputy shot him in the arm after Jansen pointed the shotgun at him.

The man was treated at an Austin hospital and then jailed pending charges.
