Man’s 6-year-old McDonald’s food pulled from eBay
A Canadian man who tried to auction his 6-year-old McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries on eBay was stopped short of a sale when the website took the listing down.
Dave Alexander posted the food items on eBay Thursday with a starting price of $29.99. When eBay pulled the burger and fries for violating its terms and agreements, they were going for $150.
Alexander told the CBC that eBay’s terms prohibit selling unpackaged or expired food.
“A 6-year-old cheeseburger? You’ve got to be kidding me that it needs an expiry date,” Alexander said.
Alexander bought the food June 7, 2012 as an experiment to see how long the items could last.
“The fries are stunningly good looking,” Alexander said. “The burger itself has darkened a little bit. The bun is about as hard as a hockey puck, but it looks just like it’s brand new cosmetically.”
