March of Dimes holds fundraiser to benefit babies in La Crosse
March for Babies event focuses on birth defects, SIDS
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — About 200 people showed up for a fundraiser in La Crosse on Saturday to raise money for research that focuses on birth defects and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
The March of Dimes organization hosted their March for Babies event, raising funds with a 2.5 mile walk.
March of Dimes started more than 75 years ago by FDR during the polio outbreaks. The group has been coming to our area for about 20 years with its March for Babies event.
Many of Saturday’s participants have a personal connection to the cause as well.
“It’s so meaningful for us because we know that we’re raising money to help other babies just like Tory who came into the world too soon. We feel like this is a small thing we can do to raise money for such a great cause,” said March for Babies walker Casey Jorgenson.
