March to promote voting while protesting border policies to begin at La Crosse’s City Hall
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Rallies are being held across the state Saturday, including in La Crosse, to show support for immigrant families.
The group NextGen Wisconsin is protesting what they feel are policies that go against American values. The group is urging Wisconsin’s youth to get out and vote this fall, to ensure their voices are heard while holding those responsible for recent acts along the border accountable.
“We will not rest as a community until all the children have been returned to their families. Even beyond that, that damage cannot be ended. There will be trauma for those children, and those people who enforce this action are going to be held responsible by our young people and people in the 2018 elections,” said NextGen Wisconsin Organizer Kade Walker.
The “Families Belong Together” Rally will be held in La Crosse Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., starting at City Hall and marching towards Burns Park.
