Martine E. Sordahl

Martine E. Sordahl, age 73, of Viroqua, WI, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2022. She was born in Viroqua on September 11, 1949, the daughter of Selmer and Eleanor (Lawrence) Sordahl. Martine graduated from Viroqua High School and went on to a career as a loving mother. Her life as a homemaker suit Martine just right because she enjoyed keeping a tidy, dust-free, home

almost as much as she did caring for her children. She also appreciated car rides, talking on the phone, window shopping, and dancing to country music by Kenny Rogers. Martine experienced

every mother’s worst nightmare with the death of two of her children, but as devastating as it was for her, she relied on her family for strength. Despite her challenges, Martine kept her humor and never stopped sharing her love with others. She was a source of joy and laughter for those who were fortunate enough to accept one of her countless hugs or just to talk with her for a while. Martine was the glue that kept her family together and will long be remembered for her giving nature.

Martine is survived by two children: Diana (Jed Thelen) Mickelson and Darian Jacobson; eight grandchildren: Shelby and Chase Jacobson, Jacob (Katrina Worthy) Hill, Kenneth Becker, Tyler (Kaitlynn) Ott, and Nakita, Darien and Austen Jacobson; 15 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Palmer, Randy and Carol Sordahl, Rachel (Brad) Gritthis, and Sheryl (Rick) Chaney; a sister-in-law, Betty Sordahl, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Martine was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Jacobson; son, Larry (Stephanie) Jacobson; three grandchildren: Courtney, Abigail, and Brandon Jacobson; her brother, Alvin Sordahl; sister, Shirley Sordahl; and her niece, Mary Hughes.

A Celebration of Martine’s Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua. Private family burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery at a later date. Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua is entrusted with her services.
