Mayo Clinic Health System hosting 3rd annual Youth Sports Symposium at UW-La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – For the third year, Mayo Clinic Health System is bringing coaches, parents, and athletes together for a Youth Sports Symposium.

The free event aims to educate everyone about sports medicine, including injury prevention and increasing performance.

Symposium leaders like Dr. Erickson, the Chair of Sports Medicine at Mayo in La Crosse, say they’re choosing a different focus this year.

“Last year, we focused a lot on injury prevention,” said Dr. Erickson. “This year will be a little bit more nutrition, recovery, body image, and some injuries that can go along with undereating.”

The event is free.

A movement seminar for young athletes and parents starts at 7:30 a.m. in UW-La Crosse’s Student Union.

The symposium starts right after at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 11 a.m.

You can find more about the symposium on Mayo’s website.
