Mayo Clinic Health System opens flu vaccine clinic in La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse opened its flu shot clinic on Monday.

Anyone can get both a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 booster vaccine.

Flu vaccines are available as a shot or as a nasal spray.

Mayo will have the updated COVID-19 vaccines that are made to fight newer strains of the virus.

You can get both vaccines during a single visit.

If you’re hesitant about getting the flu shot, nurses recommend doing your research on a reputable website.

“Do your research, go on the CDC website and read about the vaccines,” said Nurse Manager Jennifer Mitchell. “Also, call your health care team, talk to your health care provider or nurses, and they’ll give you all the information that you need and you can make the decision that’s right for you.”

According to the CDC, flu activity right now is low, but it’s ramping up in southern parts of the United States already.

Mayo’s flu clinic will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
