Mayo to sell Village on Cass assisted living facility

Residents to be temporarily displaced for remodel

Residents of an assisted living facility in La Crosse will have to find a new place to stay, at least temporarily.

Mayo Clinic Health System is agreeing to sell the Village on Cass to Nesnah Ventures, a company based out of Holmen.

Mayo has owned the facility since the early 1980s but says they recently made the decision to hand over control of the community to someone else. The new company plans to renovate the facility, but that means current residents will have to live somewhere else during construction.

“There’s going to be a temporary change in location for some people, but we’re hoping through the rebuilding process we’ll have a facility that is refreshed and a place where people really enjoy living and being residents,” said Nesnah Ventures president Tim Brennan.

Officials at Nesnah Ventures and Mayo say people currently living at the Village on Cass have already been notified and are being helped by social workers to transition to other facilities in the area.

Nesnah Ventures will officially take control of the Village on Cass in March. They hope to re-open the facility by fall of next year.
