Mayor Mitch Reynolds visits RHYMES in La Crosse
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — On any given night, about 41,000 young Americans experience homelessness.
A local organization is bringing attention to the issue in La Crosse.
La Crosse’s Runaway and Homeless Youth Mediation and Emergency Services (RHYMES) helps local youth and young adults with a number of free services.
In partnership with organizations like the 7 Rivers LGBTQ Connection and the YWCA, RHYMES provides services like a 24-hour crisis line, advocacy, and community engagement.
“When we have young people that are homeless, that’s a tragedy and that’s something that we need to address as a community, together as a community and RHYMES is certainly part of that solution and really find a place and a way to get young people connected to shelters which is absolutely essential,” said La Crosse Mayor Mitch Reynolds.
Earlier this morning, Mayor Reynolds officially declared November as National Runaway Prevention Month.
