Mayors from along Mississippi River support projects in Washington D.C.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Mayors from along the length of the Mississippi River are supporting issues that impact cities throughout the country.
La Crosse’s Mayor Tim Kabat joined nearly 30 mayors on a recent trip to Washington D.C.
The group represents the “Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative.”
Support was given for infrastructure and restoration projects along the river.
Mayor Kabat says the River connects the people that live along it in many ways.
“The whole them of the week is to talk about how do we address water quality, how do we make sure that there is investments made in the lock and dam system, how do we deal with all of the nutrient runoff,” said La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat.
This was the 7th year a delegation of mayors from the Initiative has traveled to the nation’s capitol.
