Mayors in Mississippi River cities, towns coordinate PPE distribution ahead of Election Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The City of La Crosse is one of many Mississippi River cities and towns in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa working together to make sure their communities have enough personal protective equipment (PPE) for Election Day.

It’s an effort by the Mayors of the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative, which La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat is part of.

The initiative was given donations of thousands of PPE supplies from the Guardians of Angeles Foundation, an organization based in California.

One of its missions is safeguarding communities around the nation deeply impacted the pandemic by responding to PPE shortages.

It partners with manufacturers and suppliers around the world to get these critical resources.

Mayor Kabat says this effort ensures both poll workers and voters feel safe on Tuesday.

The PPE from the Guardians of Angeles Foundation will be distributed to communities hit the hardest by the pandemic along the Mississippi River corridor.
