Meet the finders of the 2022 Oktoberfest Medallion

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — La Crosse Oktoberfest is just a few days away, and two area residents are already starting the week off on a high note.

After just six clues, the lucky couple– Cavan Jefferson and Hanna Bauer, found this year’s medallion Saturday morning in La Crosse near Grandad Bluff.

The couple takes home a 500-dollar cash prize, Oktoberfest buttons, a mini replica of the medallion and an Oktoberfest stein.

They say this was their first year actively looking for it, and the fourth and fifth clues helped them zero in on the bluff.

“It was hard. It was hidden off the trail, in the nick, the v of a tree, and we just got lucky,” Jefferson said.

The medallion is always located within La Crosse city limits, never buried in the ground, and is always on public property.

The Oktoberfest festivities kick off on Thursday with a craft beer night and the Torchlight Parade.

You can find the full Oktoberfest schedule on its website.
