Memorial Field project in Sparta delayed because of turf production issues

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — The completion of a renovation project at Memorial Field will not be finished on time, the Sparta Area School District says.

The field turf manufacturer, Sprinturf, notified the district Wednesday that they fell behind on production. All other site preparations will continue while the district waits for the turf to be produced.

As a result, Sparta High School’s opening football game against Baldwin-Woodville on Aug. 18 most likely needs to be moved to another site, the district said.

District officials said they are working out a plan for that game.
