Middle school students attend ‘Kids Culinary Academy’ at UWL

Area students are getting a hands on lesson in the kitchen this week.

Middle school students are taking part in a “Kids Culinary Academy” all week at UW-La Crosse.

They’re using skills like math and science to learn how to cook and bake from chefs and dietitians from the University’s food service department.

The kids learned how to make pizza and strawberry truffle from scratch Tuesday.

They say despite all the work, learning how to cook gives them something fun to do during the day.

“My favorite part is just really everything,” said one student named Samantha.

“It’s really fun for me because I don’t really cook unless I want to, I have to be in the right mood to cook,” said another student named Krystail.

UW-La Crosse holds the “Kids Culinary Academy” every summer.
