Middle schoolers receive awards for their research

Projects look back at our history

Local middle school students received awards Sunday for their work in research.

National History Day projects had students tour the La Crosse Public Library and create projects based off the research they found.

91 students participated to make 48 projects. Projects included displays, historical papers, documentaries and websites.

The theme of this year’s event is “Rights and Responsibilities in History” and although it may seem like just another homework assignment, its something much more. “It’s really cool how it’s not a graded assignment where okay you’re going to have to share this with the class now, and then its just over,” said first place winner Isaac List, “you can take it this and its constantly evolving “

Projects can be seen on display throughout the month of May at the La Crosse Public Library on Main Street.
