Miller Park stadium tax set to end after 23 years

Milwaukee, Wis. (WKBT) – After 23 years, the five-county sales tax that paid for the construction of Miller Park in Milwaukee will end on March 31.

Members of the board that oversee the Southeast Wisconsin Baseball Park District voted unanimously to end the tax on Tuesday.

The 0.1% sales tax has been in effect for Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, Waukesha and Racine counties for over two decades.

Democratic Governor Tony Evers signed a bill last November to end the tax by August 31, 2020.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the tax has collected about $605 million.
