Minnesota man accused of intentionally running woman off road

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A Brownsville, Minn., man was in La Crosse court Monday after he was accused of running a woman off the road on purpose.

David J. Johnson, 30, was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony intimidation of a victim, criminal damage to property, and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle in La Crosse County Circuit Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Johnson showed up at the woman’s house while she was outside near her car. She jumped inside and locked the doors while he threatened to kill her multiple times. The woman told police Johnson ripped the driver- and passenger-side door handles off her Kia Soul, ruined her driver-side mirror and threatened to kill her if she called police, according to the report.

Johnson got into his own vehicle — a 2000 Ford F-250 with a steel front-bumper — and began ramming her vehicle, according to the report. The woman drove through her yard and back onto the roadway to escape, but eventually had to stop a stop sign. Johnson caught up and rammed her vehicle again, shoving it into the intersection. He backed up and hit it again, according to the complaint. The woman drove her vehicle through the ditch into a driveway and Johnson then fled, police say.

He’s being held on a $5,000 bond.
