Minnesota man pleads guilty to embezzling $154,000

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — An Inver Grove Heights man has pleaded guilty to embezzling $154,000 from a local nonprofit organization.

Sixty-year-old Donald Peter Boehmer was charged with nine counts of theft by swindle. He pleaded guilty Monday to six of the counts.

The criminal complaint says Boehmer spent four years as the treasurer the International Concatenated Order of the Hoo-Hoo. A St. Paul Pioneer Press report describes the group as an organization whose members are involved in the forest-products industry.

The complaint says the club discovered the money was missing after an internal audit.

A telephone number for Boehmer could not immediately be found Tuesday.

Boehmer is due to be sentenced Feb. 21.
