Minnesota woman to face Benton grand jury in death

FOLEY, Minn. (AP) — A Rice woman is already charged with killing her ex-husband in Minnesota and her boyfriend in Wisconsin.

But a Benton County grand jury will convene Jan. 9 to determine if 38-year-old Angelina Mae O’Mara should face a more serious charge in the death of her ex-husband James Kelly O’Mara.

She is charged with second-degree murder in his death, but Minnesota requires a grand jury indictment to proceed with a first-degree murder charge.

Angelina O’Mara is accused of killing James O’Mara on or about Oct. 29 in his Sauk Rapids, Minn. apartment and boyfriend Michael Pies, whose body was found in an Ashland, Wis. motel a few days later.

The St. Cloud Times reports Benton County Attorney Robert Raupp announced his intent to call the grand jury at a Monday hearing.
